The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights invites the media to a press conference in response to the recent murder of Terrell Rogers, a prominent community anti-violence activist. The Lawyers’ Committee calls for a meaningful commitment from the City to fully investigate the rising homicide rate against African-Americans, particularly in Bayview-Hunters Point.
Given its special commitment to African Americans, the Lawyers’ Committee calls on city officials to ensure African Americans are guaranteed equal protection under the law. Prominent Bay Area attorneys and community leaders will be discussing the recent violence, its impact on the African American community and the racial disparities in the criminal justice system.
